Impressionist artists strive to create mere impressions of a scene without actual detail or structure.  Vincent Van Gogh is a very famous post impressionist artist. One of his most famous paintings is the Starry Night. Van Gogh is a Dutch artist by birth who worked and lived in France for most of his life.  He strived to capture many beautiful scenes while in a sanitarium.

I am writing a review over what was not historically accurate in the 2005 movie, Kingdom of Heaven.  The King of Jerusalem was confirmed to have leprosy but did not necessarily wear a mask like he did in the movie.  Also, when Saladin was attacking Jerusalem he did not show mercy in the movie but in reality he would have, in order to preserve innocent people's lives and he wanted to live in the city itself.  He would also have not used fireballs to attack Jerusalem.  It was also said in the movie that Balian was from France but in reality his life would have been centered in Jerusalem.  

In my opinion a caveman could very well have appreciated Bach if he would have heard it.  They took the time to make extensive cave paintings about things they were passionate about to share with others.  Bach wrote music to share with others and I think they would have recognized that and respected it.  I also think the Caveman would have liked how it sounded.  In Bach's works you can hear every note and it is usually fast paced.  I feel like this would have been a source of excitement for them.  According to the article by Michael Taft the cavemen appreciated and took pride in their artwork.  Thus giving them a sense of respect for the arts.  I feel like if they were able to see some of the art after their time like the Mona Lisa by Da Vinci or Michelangelo's The Last Judgement  they would have been blown away and encouraged to make more art.  

This week I've learned about the different types of gardens.  The different types of gardens are cloister, pleasure, kitchen and medicinal.  A cloister and a pleasure garden are the most similar but a cloister garden is located in a monastery or a nunnery.  The gardens are the most beautiful and peaceful, they are pleasing to the eye.  A kitchen garden is just to grow food and a medicinal garden is for herbs.  The medicinal garden is usually going to be the smallest and will most of the time be grown by doctors.  

In the video, I mostly noticed what a woman's life was like back in the day.  They had a very interesting life.  Unlike, the Greeks, Roman women could actually go outside but they were still very limited compared to today.  I thought it was very weird that within a single family, most of the daughters are going to have the same name.  I personally would not like that at all.  It would bother me if a parent was trying to get my attention and both my sisters answered as well.  Another thing that stuck out was that the girls got married at such an early age and they were required to wear all of the gifts that their fiance had bestowed upon them.  I like to change it up and I would not want to wear the same items everyday when I had to leave the house.  I feel like the women in this time period were still very restricted and I would not like growing up in that society where I would have been told what to do and where to go. 

In the past two weeks, one thing I have learned more about is Greek pottery.  I learned about the different shaped urns and what the red and black figures looked like.  I also learned about the elements of tragedy and what they are.  We watched the movie Casablanca in the past week which represents an Aristotelian plot.  In my opinion, after studying Aristotle more in depth, Aristotle was more opinionated than Socrates.
